Certified Lead Safe Practices

Arizona Fire & Water Restoration, Inc. is a Lead-Safe Certified company. Lead-based paint is any paint or surface coatings that contain lead equal to or in excess of 1.0 milligram per square centimeter or more than 0.5 percent by weight. Even paint with lead content less than this can still cause health problems.

History

In 1978, the Consumer Products Safety Commission banned the sale of lead-based paint for residential use. In practice, this means that homes built in 1978 could still have used lead-based paint because existing supplies of paint containing lead would still have been available.

WARNING!

Children under age six are most at risk from lead exposure. During normal and frequent playing or hand-to-mouth activity, children may swallow or inhale dust from their hands, toys, food or other objects.

In children, lead can cause:
1. Nervous system & kidney damage.
2. Decreased intelligence, attention deficit disorder, and learning disabilities.
3. Speech, language, and behavior problems.

Pregnant women are especially at risk from exposure to lead. Adults are also at risk, with varying side effects from lead exposure, including: high blood pressure, fertility problems, digestive problems, nerve disorders, memory problems, sexual disorders and muscle or joint pain.
Only a laboratory test can tell you for sure if an area is contaminated with lead. You can’t see lead contaminated dust. It’s extremely difficult to sweep up and it travels easy through the air. Just ONE gram of lead-based paint can contaminate a large area!

Arizona Fire & Water Restoration, Inc. is an EPA Certified Renovator for Lead-Safe Practices. We comply with the EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule and the HUD Lead Safe Housing Rule. The company performs lead-safe practices safely and effectively.

Below is AZFW’s current EPA Certificate for Lead-Based Paint Renovation, Repair and Painting Activities.
